Which Wifi devices are supported?

Hello!

Which Wifi devices are supported?
I have Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG card integrated in my notebook but when I try to start Virtual Router it only says "Virtual Router Could Not Be Started!".

Will there be support for more devices?

Thanks and kind regards

The device support is dependent on you having a driver installed that is Certified for Windows 7. As far as I know, part of the requirement for a wireless driver to be Certified for Windows 7 it must support the Wireless Hosted Network / Virtual Wifi features of Windows 7.

Part of the problem with this is that a "Certified for Windows Vista" driver will work perfectly on Windows 7. However, a Certified for Windows Vista driver will not support the Wireless Hosted Network / Virtual Wifi features.

I'm working on putting together a "FAQ" that will include information about the supported devices. You can view the FAQ here: http://virtualrouter.codeplex.com/documentation

Also, according to the Connectify list of supported devices, your Intel 3945 card is not compatible. But, I suspect it's probably a driver issue, so maybe Intel will come out with a Windows 7 driver at some point that will support it.

Thanks for your reply!
I hope Intel won't miss this one.

It looks like the same Intel driver version 13.0.0.107 for Windows 7 works for your Intel 3945 card as works for both the Intel 5100 and 5300. You can download it at the link below. Please let me know if this works, so I can add this to the list of supported devices for others to reference.

I already have that driver (13.0.0.107) installed without luck.

Do you have the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows 7 installed? I don't know if it makes a difference, but I wonder if it might.

It's Windows 7 Ultimate 32 Bit.

I see the Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN Mini Card is supported

Can anyone confirm/deny the Dell 1397 that comes with the Dell Inspiron 15 laptop is the same/also supported?

Intel Wifi 13.1.1.0 drivers have been released but unfortunately 3945ABG still isn't supported.
I hope they'll add that card in the future.
