Change Log
- Added Installation Check for Windows 7 / 2008 R2 or later
- Added ability to customize the icon displayed for a particular device / connected peer. To do this, either "double click" the connected peer, or "right click" and select "properties".
- Added Network Name (SSID) and Password Field Validation. SSID can not be longer than 32 characters, and Password must be at least 8 characters and no more than 64 characters.
- Persist SSID and Password across executions so that the user doesn't have to type it in every time.
- The First time Virtual Router Manager is run the Password/Passphrase field is blank. This is to encourage users to enter their own password instead of just using the "default" value in an effort to help increase the overall security. This way there is no "default" password for hackers to try connecting with.

Works perfectly after a brief installation and setup.
Application is currently acting as a WiFi repeater using a DELL i3 CPU M 370 @ 2.40GHz laptop receiving two bars of signal from a Linksys WRT54g running DD-WRT firmware. Serves up client connectivity with password logon. Provides connectivity to LG 670 running Android with no lag or drop, even while streaming music and video. Highly Recommended

Perfect, right now I am on business trip abroad, downloading Gran Turismo 5 update 2.03 to my PS3 thanks to Virtual Router! :-) I noticed installation created "Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport" network interface on its own, very simple. UMTS tethered from Android mobile via USB to Windows 7 Home Premium notebook HP 620. Thanks!

VirtualRouter worked immediately, once I'd opened the Virtual Router app from the system tray, set a password and hit the start button. Simultaneous connections from 2 iPod Touch devices work fine. Spectacularly good!

Excellent little tool, can use my desktop as repeater for my mobile phone now. However configuration is hard. Didn't get it work unless a MS Virtual Wifi adapter is installed. Can do this in Win7 by command-line, but I used another Open Source on http://virtualwifi.sourceforge.net. Both tools integrate perfect. You can use Virtual Wifi for the specific settings and Virtual Router to run in taskbar

I wanted to reverse tether my HTC Desire to the 3G connection on my new Win7 Lenovo laptop (no I'm not mad, there is a good reason!). First I had to find a generic driver for the Huawei E1750 3G modem (the pre-loaded SW from the mobile phone company blocked sharing). Then I had to downgrade the driver for the Atheros AR9285 wifi. Took a day of hard work and a lot of trial and error but got there!

It works 100%. Its gr8 just need to b more helpful to users. Actually it asks 4 wirelss conenction to share b4 u can start. u can make 1 by going in Network & sharing center-> Setup new connection, select adhoc network pc to pc & follow wizard steps. But this is to b done at every start. Read my blog 4more http://dotnetxperience.blogspot.com/2011/03/make-your-wifi-enabled-windows-7-wifi.html

IT WORKS!!! I'm using Windows 7 32bit SP1 and have no trouble connecting my iPhone to my laptop/internet. Sometimes it says it cannot be started, but usually clicking Start again it will run. And occasionally when I select my Lan connection to be shared, it will change to another adaptor, but Stopping, reselecting and restarting usually sorts it. It is in Beta so there are bound to be some issues.

This program is awesome! Installed fast, and worked easily first time, with a laptop and an iphone4. I can't believe that I don't see more reviews for this program. This is so COOL! Please keep this up and I will be spreading the word about this. :)

In one word: great
In two words: easy breezy
Virtual Router installed very easily on my laptop (DELL XPS M 1530) and I am up running it as virtual router within 5 minutes.
Simply fantastic.
I tried connectify without success and the support was also in the similar state as their software.
Great job, please keep it up

Works great! Simple to set up and allows me to connect my BlackBerry and share the PC's Ethernet connection. BBs don't allow ad-hoc connections so you need to be an access point. I tried Connectify but it caused constant BSODs. Virtualrouter is stable and awesome!

Excellent stuff! After disconnecting from my current Ad-hoc wifi network & UN-sharing my net connection, it worked great, however my D-link DWL-G520 driver makes lots bsod's on win7.
I've had too many issues with connectify, ever since 2.1 got released, it only works interminably.
However on Windows 2008 R2, it works once after each install then never again :(
Virtual Router + WIN 7 = Awesome

Works fine with my Intel WiFi Link 5300, once I reverted to driver version 13.0. With version 13.3, I got a BSOD (in NETwNs64.sys) every time a device attempted to *use* the connection. (Starting VR and establishing connection works fine.)
Connectify exhibits the same behaviour, so this is definitely a driver issue.

Works intermittently on my Dell Inspiron 1420 and it's unclear why.
Most of the time, will not allow anything to connect to it, although the HotSpot is visible and the password keyed in correctly.
But on rare occasions (not sure why) suddenly I can connect to it. But the next day, again, cannot connect.
